AACCI was established in 2007 and has been working for school and college students for Holistic well being through teacher and parents.
Right from the beginning we had informally involved youth as peer educators as it has been well established that young people are more likely to listen to and make an effort to change health behaviour if the messages are delivered by their peers – as they will identify with them- the messenger is similar to them and faces the same concerns and pressure.
The peer educators also benefit immensely as it motivates them to make the changes for positive health behaviour themselves and also fosters leadership abilities in them , building up their personality.
From 2015 we decided to establish a formal structure by starting an AACCI Youth wing in Pune .This is headed by Dr Shailaja Mane AACCI Pune Co-ordinator. The youth wing leader is Sourabh Mane who is an engineering student from MIT Pune. Most members are medical students from Dr D. Y.
