Nanhi Kali Pune IAP WW program sponsored by AACCI hosted by Sneha Foundation

About 120 standard 8th to 10th girls attended the programme. The third and last session of Nanhi kali was held .Lectures taken were Faculty was Dr Geeta Karamblekar, Dr Shailaja Mane
The topics discussed during session were :
1 Adolescent sexuality 2 Adolescent pregnancy 3 Life skills education
The girls asked many Questions regarding these issues which are rarely discussed openly
The girls were checked for their HB levels and Blood group by Sneha Foundation organized by Social worker Meenakshi Shewale 25% had low Hb organized by Social worker Meenakshi Shewale
 

AACCI- Life Skills Education ( LSE ) Program

This was the second session of LSE in this school .The first was conducted on 7th July
The life skill covered in this session were 1) Communication skills and handling peer pressure. Format was that of Lectures and role plays
Awareness and education was also given on substance abuse
The faculty were Dr. Swati Joshi and Dr. Snehal Apte

Second National Civil Society Consultation on Non Communicable Diseases in India

This was hosted by HIA - Healthy alliance India for NCD prevention . The theme was : Multi-sectoral Collaboration and Capacity Building to Advance NCD Prevention and Control in India. This was supported by WHO India and Ministry of Health Govt of India In the session Sharing best practices: "Civil Society Action in India for NCD prevention and control: Voices from the field - Dr Swati Bhave Executive Director AACCI presented experience on Youth engagement for NCD awareness

About 80 to 90 girls from standard 8th to 10th attended the programme . The second session of Nanhi kali was held .Lectures taken were Faculty was Dr Geeta Karamblekar and Dr Suhas Sodal
The topics discussed during session were:
1 Common Skin & Hair Problems -. 2. Mental illnesses- Tension, Stress, Anxiety, Depression, Suicidal ideation.
The girls interacted with both the trainers and tried to resolve their queries. They were enthusiastic in sharing their experiences and for being guided about commonly faced problems.

AACCI - Life Skills Teaching Program

AACCI has developed a LIFE SKILL EDUCATION training program for school students
The faculty were Dr. Swati Joshi and Dr. Snehal Apte. They delivered lectures to explain the different life skills and how they are useful for day today activities. They also did role plays to explain life skills Story telling method was also used. The skill taken in this session was on "self - awareness" It was made a very interactive session.
Total 120 students of standard 10 Th of A and B division attended the session actively and enthusiastically.
     
 
     
 
 

Launch of Pune IAP WW supported by AACCI hosted by Sneha Foundation

The IAP WW Pune was launched with the Nanhi Kali module. Faculty was Dr Swati Y Bhave, Dr Sampada Tambolikar Pune IAP WW coordinator and Dr Shailaja Mane Jt Co-ordinator
This event was in collaboration with an NGO Sneha Foundation social worker Meenakshi Shewale the lectures taken were Nutrition, knowing my body m pubertal changes and menstrual hygiene.120 Girls from 8th 9th and 10th STD attended
The Indian Academy of Pediatrics IAP has formed an IAP Women's Wing in Jan 2016 The Chairperson is Dr Swati Y Bhave and the Convenor is Dr Hima Bindu Singh. In 2017 the IAP WW launched a program for adolescent girls called Nanhi Kali which consists of 12 lectures on various issues related to adolescent health for girls in schools and community

     
 
     
 
     
   

 
AACCI Participation in the NCD task force Government of Maharashtra

A brain storming meeting was organised by NCD Pune task force. Civil Surgeon, Medical officers from Vadgaon Maval, RBSK, RKSK projects and other NGOs participated in this meeting. AACCI was invited for planning of NCD Project related to children and adolescents. Dr Shailaja Mane Co-ordinator- AACCI Pune actively participated in it and shared views.
It was decided that AACCI along with Staff of Pediatric Dept of DY Patil Medical College will train medical officers and paramedical health workers for early identification of NCDs by early screening in children and adolescents. Place, instruments and other backup will be provided by NCD, Pune team.
     
 
 

Workshop of the Govt of Maharashtra State Technical Committee :
Obesity and Diabetes
May 2 - 3, 2017

Maharashtra state health government has formed a state technical committee: Obesity and Diabetes prevention and control task force which will be designing an action plan and policy for addressing Obesity and NCDs in Maharashtra. The main objective of this task-force will be to develop an action plan for prevention and control of Obesity and NCDs in Maharashtra.
The objective of the workshop was to prepare a roadmap for strengthening health systems and effective implementation of NPCDCS program to provide quality care for NCDs in the state of Maharashtra.

The following members from AACCI attended the meeting : Dr Swati Bhave Executive Director AACCI, Dr Sharad Agarkhedkar Advisor AACCI - Pune , Dr Shailaja Mane Co-ordinator AACCI Pune.

Dr Swati Bhave gave a presentation on Importance of beginning NCD awareness and prevention from Infancy to adolescence to prevent Adult NCD's. She also discussed prevention from preconception stage of not having malnourished adolescent girls and teen pregnancy which will lead to LBW - at high risk for Adult NCD. She also presented AACCI experience over last 8 years of school awareness programs for promotion of healthy life style and prevention of Life style diseases which is the mission of AACCI. Through pictures of workshops recently conducted in Pune by Dr Shailaja Mane she explained the methodology and contents of the modules.

AACCI in collaboration with the Adolescent Clinic - Pediatrics Dept D.Y Patil medical college , Pimpri Pune offered to help to screen school children and take care of the high risk for NCD detected children at the adolescent Center.

AACCI and DY Patil Pediatric Dept will work with the RKSK and RBSK school programs to take this forward.

A workshop for prevention of Non Communicable Diseases (NCDs) was conducted for 10th std. students in SNBP School in Pimpri along with department of paediatrics Dr. D. Y. Patil Medical College, Pimpri, Pune .Total 120 students (Boys & Girls) actively participated in this workshop. Dr. Shailaja Mane ,Dr.Balkrushna Garud , Dr.Harsh, Dr.Arjun,Dr.Nadeem, Dr.Amol conducted this workshop. A workshop for prevention of Non Communicable Diseases (NCDs) was conducted for 9th std. students in SNBP School in Pimpri along with department of paediatrics Dr. D. Y. Patil Medical College, Pimpri, Pune .Total 160 students (Boys & Girls) actively participated in this workshop. Dr. Shailaja Mane ,Dr. Sandesh ,Dr. Harsh, Dr. Arjun, Dr. Nadeem were faculty. Workstations of Healthy Food, Exercise and Reading Food labels were taken. students enjoyed the workshop and were thankful to organizers.

A Preconference training workshop for pediatricians for "Champions in NCD" was held at APPA Asia Pacific Pediatric Congress & PEDICON 2016 -Annual Conference of IAP - Indian Academy of Pediatrics, HICC Hyderabad on 20th and 21st January 2016 by NCD child a global alliance and AAP.

Post workshops grants were given to national pediatric societies for conducting school workshops for awareness and prevention of NCD. AACCI is closely working and actively involved in the school workshops conducted by IAP for this project .

A workshop was conducted for 8th std. students’ in SNBP school Pimpri Pune by Dr Shailaja Mane. Anger Management session

Dr Swati Y Bhave gave sesssion on understanding about anger and tips to control anger and practical demonstrationfollowed by Q/A to a group of ladies from an all ladies Rotary club of Pune INSPIRA . The audience was very happy and wanted a more indepth workshop on this issues .They also wanted future collaboration with AACCI on holding workshops for teens and parents of various other issues.
     
 
     
   
 
 

AACCI - Awareness & prevention of Child Sexual Abuse - CSA & POCSO Act 2012

Library Hall - Dr. D Y Patil Medical College, Pimpri, Pune.
AACCI has developed a training module for doctors of all specialties to make them aware of the POCSO act 2012 . A pilot testing of this module was done with the teachers of DY Patil Medical college Pimpri.
The faculty wwere Dr Swati Y Bhave , Dr Snehal Apte , Dr Shailaja Mane and Dr Swati Joshi .They delivered various lectures on CSA and POCSO Act.Role plays were done by Dr.Geeta Karambelkar and Dr.Shradha Salunkhe.
A total 46 Teachers from various faculties from Pediatrics, Psychiatry, Gynacology, Psychology, Nursing etc. attended this programme enthusiastically and actively and gave a detailed feedback on the module Mrs Nandita from Muskan an NGO working on CSA shared practical experiences of reporting Child Sexual Abuse and answered the doctors queries.
